History has proven time and time again that people that show a great deal of optimism have registered the most success both in their business and in their personal life.
During my entrepreneurial career, I encountered a period that was defined by a negative mental attitude. However, the moment I decided to change that to a positive one, my life has seen a tremendous change, both from a personal and a professional standpoint. By changing the mindset I was able to leave the failed startup and the depressed state I was in behind and started an awesome translation services company that is on its way to become one of the major players in the industry.
Here are five useful tips that have helped me tremendously in my effort to get rid of the negative mentality and live the life I always wanted.
Start by expressing gratitude. In my opinion, one of the simplest ways to increase the positivity levels you register is by expressing gratitude. Being thankful for the things in your life will blast away any negativity you might be holding onto. By using gratitude you are able to instantly sense the feeling of love. The place in your heart filled with love will never be conquered by fear and other negative emotions.
The most effective way to implement gratitude in your life is done simply by expressing it each and every morning. After you woke up and you’re sipping down your cup of coffee, try and express 10 things you’re grateful to have in your life. This list can either be spoken out loud or in the confines of your mind. However, the things must be detailed and come from your heart. Just close your eyes and see how much this will help you feel gratitude. No matter how sad or depressed you are you can always find things to be grateful for if you give yourself time to think about it.
Give unconditionally to others. In many cases, negative feelings may be caused by focusing on a perceived negative aspect of your life. Shift this instantly by giving unconditionally to your peers.
Share your vast knowledge and your skills with the people surrounding you. Should a friend or a family member be looking for advice, do everything within your power to help him or her out. Never hesitate or doubt your value. Even small gestures, thoughts, ideas can be considered tremendous help for someone in need. And by sharing them with your peers you are causing a major shift in the perspective of a person.
Control your breathing. I’ve heard it countless times that people that are able to control their breath have the ability to control their life. In some respects, this statement proves to be very true. Just go back in time and find the last time you lost control. What happened to the breathing pattern? When feeling anger, your breath will become short and quick. When and if you control your breath, you are able to understand and change the negative emotions.
Make a habit out of practicing your breathing in a quiet space or during your yoga or meditation sessions. The moment you take a breath in through the nose, just sense how the air enters your body and travels all the way to your lungs. And when the air hits the deepest part of the lungs, feel how it slowly leaves your body through the mouth. This will ensure that all the tension is released.
Envision success. By actually managing to envision and imagine, you have a powerful tool at your disposal that will help you raise your positivity levels.
Start by closing your eyes. Recall a positive even that has occurred in the past. In your mind’s eye, visualize the event exactly how it happened. Become a part of the event and just see how the positive emotions will come back as the even undergoes. When opening your eyes, grant yourself the opportunity to stay in the positive state. Moreover, visualization effects can be multiplied should meditation be practiced beforehand.
Use meditation to its full potential. You’ve probably heard lots of people that meditation is the key to success. In some respects, they are actually dead on. It is one of the most effective ways to increase your positivity. By practicing meditation you are able to expand your awareness, thus ensuring a solid connection between body, mind and soul. By mastering meditation a person is able to let go of all negative emotions that are holding him back and allowing him to connect with his higher self.
Last but not least, you need a quiet and comfortable place to sit, whether you lie down or stand on your two feet, whatever is best for you. Just close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and allow your body, mind and spirit to relax. When you’re breathing deeply, you should feel like you are letting go of all negative emotions you were holding onto. With each breath, let go of one more. In the process, you realize that everything that surrounds you was built on love, so why not allow yourself to live within the confines of this love?
